Introduction
Epiq Solutions is seeking a Senior PCB eCAD Librarian to lead and manage our enterprise electronic component library, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of all schematic symbols, footprints, 3D models, and parametric data used across our product designs. This role is key to maintaining high design quality, enabling efficient collaboration between electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams, and supporting the company's rapid product development environment.
The ideal candidate has deep expertise in PCB design tools and library management systems, a strong understanding of electronic components and manufacturing requirements, and the ability to establish scalable processes for a growing engineering organization.
Responsibilities
Library Management & Governance
- Own and maintain the centralized PCB eCAD library, including schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and 3D models.
- Develop, implement, and enforce standards for naming conventions, documentation, and revision control.
- Establish and maintain part creation workflows, validation procedures, and approval processes for new and existing parts.
- Audit and clean up legacy libraries to ensure compliance with current design and manufacturing standards.
Tool & System Administration
- Manage and configure eCAD tools and library databases (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, PADS, or equivalent).
- Support PLM/ERP integration for component lifecycle and supply chain visibility.
- Collaborate with IT and CAD system administrators to ensure version control, data security, and system performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure component data accuracy and manufacturability.
- Support new component introduction (NPI) and provide guidance on component selection aligned with supply chain resilience and design best practices.
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for library-related issues, training, and tool best practices.
Continuous Improvement
- Develop automation tools, scripts, or workflows to streamline part creation, validation, and updates.
- Stay current on eCAD technologies, IPC standards, and industry trends to continuously enhance library management efficiency and quality.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline; or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in PCB design, eCAD library management, or component engineering.
- Expert-level proficiency with Altium Designer (preferred), OrCAD/PADS, or equivalent eCAD systems.
- Strong understanding of IPC-7351 footprint standards, component data management, 3D modeling integration, and DFM/DFX principles.
- Familiarity with PLM/ERP systems (e.g. Epicor Kinetic or similar) and component lifecycle management.
- Proven experience establishing and maintaining library governance frameworks and design standards.
- Excellent attention to detail, documentation skills, and cross-functional communication ability.
Desired
- Knowledge of ECAD/MCAD collaboration workflows and file formats (STEP, IDF, etc.).
- Prior leadership or mentorship experience within an engineering design tools or library team.
