Come work with us at the University of Akron School of Law in Akron, Ohio! We are hiring an assistant library professor. This is a law faculty non-tenure track position eligible for continuing appointment. This position includes equal voting rights at the law school and expected participation on faculty and university committees.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide reference and research services
Teach introductory and advanced research courses
Participate in the provision of student and faculty services
Help promote library services and resources
Participate in collection development
Attend faculty meetings, assigned committee meetings, and participate in School of Law events
Engage in scholarship
Present at conferences and other professional meetings
Perform other duties as assigned
Akron is a great place to live! We have the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, in addition to the thriving Summit County Metro Parks, with wonderful trails great for hiking. There are a ton of fun restaurants and breweries in the area, and there are always events happening downtown (just a short walk from the law school). It’s just over a half an hour drive to Cleveland, where we have teams from the MLB (the Guardians), the NFL (the Browns), and the NBA (the Cavaliers). You’ll also find the lake, museums, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
We offer a hybrid work environment. During the academic year, librarians are eligible to work remotely one day per week. During the summer, this increases to two days per week.
Required Education:
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, or equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited school
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited school.

Requirements
Required Qualifications: A Master of Library Science Degree from an ALA-accredited school and a JD from an ABA-accredited school. US Citizenship or immigration status that allows long-term full-time academic work in the United States.
