Description

The Pacific Library Partnership (PLP), in partnership with the California State Library, is seeking a skilled Consultant to conduct a landscape analysis and provide a report about resource sharing among California public libraries, including research about the feasibility of a statewide library card that provides Californians access to every public library in the state.

Requirements

The Consultant will research, describe, and analyze the current state of resource sharing among California public library jurisdictions and cooperative systems. The landscape analysis should include an assessment of the activities and strategies currently being implemented to share resources.

The Consultant will conduct research and gather input regarding resource sharing from California libraries and cooperative systems. As part of the process, the Consultant will actively engage stakeholders through a variety of means, including, but not limited to, surveys, focus groups, listening sessions, in-person visits and interviews. 

The Consultant will review actions being taken by other states or institutions which might be used as a model for action in California. 

This report will include analysis of both physical and electronic formats. The report will include research into the feasibility of a statewide shared library card. 

The final report should serve as a shared resource for the California public library community to strengthen resource sharing. The final report should also include data-driven recommendations about the feasibility of a statewide library card.
