Summer school teachers must be properly certified in the appropriate content area.Middle School: Teacher, Nurse, Librarian, Counselor, Reading Specialist, and Math Interventionist: $4,160 stipend which includes all pay for teaching, planning, training, setting up rooms, and Open Houses.
Summer School sessions will begin as follows:
- Wednesday, June 3rd - Thursday June 25th
- Summer school is Monday through Thursday (only) for 14 days.
- 8:00am - 1:10pm
Summer employment is contingent upon enrollment.
POSITION TITLE: School Nurse
REPORTS TO: School Principal/Coordinator of Health Services
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs duties to provide and promote health care for students, staff and volunteers, and to encourage maximum learning through a comprehensive school health program; also assists in health emergency and or crisis situations that may occur in assigned building.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions
- Assesses students/staff condition in the event of illness or injury, following established nursing procedures; provides care and/or makes referral to appropriate medical personnel.
- Administers prescribed medication to students per board policy and monitors for side effects.
- Maintains accurate documentation of medicines received from parents and dispensed to students, per applicable laws and established nursing practice.
- Reviews students immunization records for compliance with state law; refers for follow-up when needed.
- Conducts student basic health screening (hearing, vision, dental, etc.), identifies and documents problems and refers for further evaluation as necessary.
- Maintains documentation on students cumulative health records; prepares annual report for state.
- Monitors school environment continuously for safety of students and staff.
- Provides consultation with students, staff and community on injuries and current health issues.
- Identifies student health care problems and develops and implements specialized care programs where necessary.
- Organizes and overseas operations of community health supports at building level.
- Creates and overseas health safety plans and emergency care processes at building level.
- Provides educational resources for students/staff with regard to growth and development, dental hygiene, asthma conditions, first aid safety for use in the health curriculum and classroom visitations.

- Standing, walking, sitting, feeling, grasping, talking, hearing.
- Normal attention with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less as well as 20 feet or more, and ability to ID and distinguish colors, required.
- Light to moderate physical demand with regular lifting of very light to light (1 to 25 lbs.) items by hand and occasional lifting of average (25 to 60 lbs.) items by hand or with mechanical assistance.
Typical inside conditions, but with regular exposure to chemicals and contagious diseases.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: RN required, although BSN preferred. Broad knowledge of a discipline such as nursing and health care, involving the use of a broad theoretical knowledge equivalent to a complete college or university education.
Experience: Experience of 5 years is preferred.

- Apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure. Perform the operations with like common and decimal fractions. Compute ratio, rate, and percent.
- Perform reading, writing, and speaking at an intermediate level.
- Must possess intellectual, technical and human relations skills needed to work cooperatively with colleagues, parents and community groups in order to accomplish District goals.

Computer and related software, patient care equipment, copy and fax machines.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required: RN required. Registered Nurse licensed by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
