Kimble County is now hiring a full-time Library Director. This is an exempt position. The Library Director assumes responsibility for administrative and management tasks covering a broad range of public library functions. Primary responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of the County Library, supervising other library staff and volunteers, procurement of materials and resources to be made available to the public, vendor management, grant writing and reporting, strategic planning, ensuring the execution of the library’s mission and vision, management and planning of the library budget, community engagement, maintaining relationships with the Library Board, Friends of the Library and county elected officials and general oversight of the library’s collection, resources, and Integrated Library System (ILS) software (Apollo).
The position requires at a minimum High School graduation or its equivalent, with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred, plus at least 3-5 years of educational, library and/or public service experience preferably and/or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Strong technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Windows Operating System and comfortability using cloud-based systems. Strong organization and managerial skills that include the ability to lead and inspire library personnel and volunteers. Financial and bookkeeping skills preferred. Strong interpersonal skills that support a high-frequency, quality customer service environment and the development of community-oriented partnerships. Proficiency in writing and communication, including public speaking. Event planning and organization. Creative and motivated individual who enjoys the opportunity to discover and explore new ideas in the ever-evolving library world
A Texas driver’s license applicable to job responsibilities is required and the candidate must have a good driving record.
The position has an annual salary of up to $50,000.00 based on experience. The position is eligible for Kimble County health insurance and retirement benefits.
