- Research and Instruction Librarian for Emerging Technologies
Description
Provide leadership in the area of emerging technologies and innovative pedagogical practices.
- Collaborate with faculty engaged in digital scholarship and technology infused class research projects to support and promote their work.
- Support student scholars who are using existing and emerging technologies for their research and assignments.
- Develop and support programming for faculty, staff and students in the Digital Scholarship Center in areas of digital scholarship and innovative pedagogies.
- Promote information literacy for digital scholarship in relation to copyright, citations and other areas of research & instruction librarianship.
- Help develop, promote and support the LITS Literacies Framework, infusing core elements of the ACRL framework for information literacy into each area.
- Develop online learning materials related to the areas above.
Provide research, information literacy, and liaison services
- Deliver course-integrated instruction in partnership with faculty and academic staff, both in person and online, in information literacy, digital literacy, and research practices.
- Serve as the liaison to First Year Experience and various departments in humanities and social sciences as assigned.
- Provide on-call research assistance to library patrons, staff and student employees, onsite and online.
- Offer research consultations for faculty and students.
- Create educational materials, deliver workshops, and organize events to support teaching and learning.
- Support collection management policies in the liaison areas.
Collaborate with LITS staff, campus partners, and Carleton College colleagues to sustain and develop LITS services and resources
- Identify, create, test, and implement new services and resources to meet emerging and evolving user needs.
- Serve on intercollegial teams, task forces, and working groups
- Work as a member of the Bridge Consortium, collaborating in tandem with peers at Carleton College, to ensure that work is not duplicated and that costs are contained or reduced; participate in all appropriate Bridge working groups, meetings, and functions; and may provide services to Carleton College.
- Promote services and represent the libraries and IT, including creating media, planning & working at events, contributing ideas, and helping the Events and Engagement committee to make the libraries a welcoming place.

Requirements
Work Schedule
Term: Year Round
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; occasional work outside these shifts, including evening and weekend hours, required as needed; travel up to 1% of the work schedule, which includes local, Twin Cities metro area, and national travel; overnight trips average 1 trip per year.
Hybrid work: Staff are able to work up to two days a week remotely, though some weeks may require more in-person days due to the nature of your work (e.g. course-based instruction)
Required Qualifications
Education: MLIS or MLS from an ALA-accredited institution
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in higher education with experience teaching information literacy, in an academic library, or research institution.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: A second master’s degree or Ph.D in education, educational technology, or other relevant field
Experience: 2+ years of experience teaching in a higher education setting and using digital scholarship tools and practices.
